Bobby Robbins, born and raised in Texas, is a husband and father of six whose journey bridges continents and callings. He earned two Honors Degrees and a B.A. in Political Science from Texas A&M University, where he received multiple academic, leadership, and student impact awards from the university and the Corps of Cadets, and was ultimately commissioned as a U.S. Army Officer.
Bobby began his active-duty military career in 2001, serving multiple decorated combat tours leading an artillery platoon, later as an Executive Officer, and as an operations planner for an infantry battalion. While in the reserves, he developed mission command training and staff operations curricula for deploying units.
His civilian work included leadership roles in residential construction, industrial recycling and material reclamation, and organizational development consulting before a 2011 journey to Yunnan, China, inspired a new path. In 2012, he and his family relocated to Yunnan, where he learned language and culture from the Lijiang Teacher’s College and founded Harmony Bridge Travel to connect travelers with China’s cultural and natural heritage through sustainable tourism.
Bobby holds a Master’s in International Sustainable Tourism from the University of North Texas and CATIE (Costa Rica), with published research in agritourism development. He also consults with the Yunnan Tourism Planning and Research Institute on sustainable tourism initiatives at the transnational, prefecture, county, and village levels, helping advance responsible travel and local prosperity across Southwest China.
